Oscars for the Lady!

There may be some spoilers ahead

I feel as if it’s appropriate to start off this review with a rating, and of course, I’m going to give this film a 5/5, A+, 100%, no matter what metric you want to use, this film is truly one of the best films to be made and certainly one of the best ones of the year.

I certainly didn’t believe I would be ever writing those words as I was very sceptical of this project. Not that I didn’t believe Gaga would step up to the role of a lead actress, but I was wondering whether this was the right project for her. The film is the 4th remake with a small budget and faced several changes in the production team before it was even given the green light by Warner Bros. The odds were certainly stacked against this one. But Bradley Cooper’s vision, Lady Gaga’s sheer star (no pun intended) power both came through!

Audiences were taken on a journey that they were not prepared for. Bradley Cooper took our emotions in his hands and controlled it for the entire movie. From the very beginning, we fall in love with the idea of Ally and Jack. We loved them together even before they became together. We were taken on a musical journey that told a story of the rise of one star, the fall of another with the rise and fall of a tragic love story happening simultaneously. After watching for the first time, I left the theatre and headed straight to the ticketing booth and purchased a ticket for the next showing and 30 minutes later, I was back in the room being serenaded by Jackson Maine. It was THAT brilliant, you might just want to watch it again and again.

I wouldn’t go through all the details of the movie or even comment on the spectacular music (I’ll write more articles about this once I’ve truly processed it) because I want you to experience this movie for yourself.

Take my word for it, the moment the movie starts, you’ll just get lost in the storytelling technique of Bradley Cooper, the angelic voice of Lady Gaga and the sheer beauty of the story.

A Star is Born is in theatres now. Grab your tickets here.
