As the opening weekend closes, A Star is Born is shining brighter than it ever did. The film opened to a $42,600,000 domestic according to Box Office Mojo. A Star is Born is officially the Number 2 movie in the country!
Internationally, A Star is Born delivered $14 million from 31 markets including a $5.3 million launch in the UK along with a $2.1 million second place opening in France and a $1.9 million debut in Germany. Several markets have yet to open including South Korea (Oct 9), Italy (Oct 11), Brazil (Oct 11), Mexico (Oct 12), Australia (Oct 18) and Japan (Dec 21). Combining the domestic and foreign gross, the film’s weekend sales total $56,600,00.
The film opened in about 3,686 theatres domestically making an average of $11,191. The film’s budget was 36 million meaning that it was able to remake its budget in the opening weekend alone! A Star is Born is also the 10th highest October Opening Weekend.
Songs from the soundtrack currently occupy 6 spots on the iTunes charts and the album is predicted to make a smashing No.2 debut on the Billboard charts next week.
