Deadline has reported that Lady Gaga is casted to star as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, who was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex husband’s assasination on the steps of his office in 1995. She served 18 years before being let out of jail in 2016.
The film is not yet attached to a studio but the first stop for director Ridley Scott is Fox/Disney. The film is scripted by Roberto Bentivegna, based on the Sara Gay Forden book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed. Scott plans to move quickly to direct the film after he first helms The Last Duel.
This will be Oscar winner Lady Gaga’s first role since her break out performance on Bradley Cooper directed A Star is Born which earned her a nomination for Best Actress and a win for Best Original Song. Ridley Scott is a 4 time Academy Award nominated Director.
Gaga’s acting career is currently represented by Creative Arts Agency (CAA).
