It’s official, the A Star is Born: Soundtrack debuted on the Billboard 200 chart at the No.1 position. The album sold a total of 231,000 SPS in its first week with an impressive 162,000 in pure sales.
Of A Star Is Born’s first-week sales of 162,000 copies, digital downloads of the album totalled 118,000, while 42,000 were on CD and 2,000 were on vinyl LP.
The soundtrack is Gaga’s fifth consecutive album to debut at No.1 on the Billboard 200 charts. She was previously tied with Taylor Swift for the most consecutive No.1s this decade but has now surpassed her. Lady Gaga is now the female artist with the most No.1 albums in a single decade on the Billboard 200 charts, setting a new record.
According to Billboard, the soundtrack marks the biggest week for a soundtrack since 2015. The last soundtrack to score a larger week in total units was the Fifty Shades of Grey album, which debuted at No. 2 on the list dated Feb. 28, 2015 with 258,000 units earned.

Shallow, the promotional single released by Interscope for the album is currently charting at No. 28 on the Billboard 100. It charted with 8.3 million U.S. streams and 58,000 downloads sold in the week ending Oct. 4, according to Nielsen Music, as it jumps from No. 14 to No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart (marking Gaga’s sixth leader on the list).
