Lady Gaga attended ELLE’s 25th annual Women in Hollywood celebration in Beverly Hills on October 15th. Among many other women, Lady Gaga was an honouree and received an award for her work. During her acceptance speech, she opened up about her sexual assault, mental illness, and a plea for women to lift up each other’s voices and “beckon the world towards kindness.” “I wanted to take the power back.” The award was presented to Gaga by Jennifer Lopez.
During her speech, Lady Gaga also officially confirmed that she’s engaged to Christian Carino. It was speculated for some time now, however this is the first time the singer has publicly mentioned it.
